Home exchange - Berkeley, CA-Cogncac, France

edited March 2014 in General

We are a Franco-American family of three and would like to come to Berkeley for the 2014-2015 school year. We would like to enroll our 11-year-old daughter in a school in the United States and have chosen Berkeley because we have family working at UC there and love the area.
We are looking for a house exchange from August 15th 2014-June 15th 2015. The beginning and ending dates could be somewhat flexible, if needed.

Our Home:

Our home is a townhouse built in the mid-1800s in Cognac, France. It is on a small, quiet street in the historic section of Cognac. All local commerce including the wonderful market is within easy walking distance. It has three bedrooms, two on the second floor and one on the third floor. It has a 1/2 bathroom on the ground floor and a full bathroom with shower on the second floor. There is a second shower room on the third floor. We have a nice garden with lots of flowers, an apple tree and a fig tree. (We usually and grill and eat outside from June-October). We also have a second building in back that houses a comfortable TV-music room and a full-functioning office on the second floor. There are all modern amenities with wireless internet in the house and office building.

This is also a great location to use as a base to discover the Charente region, the Dordogne, the Atlantic coast, Bordeaux; the city and its wine appellations. It is also a 4-hour drive to Spain and a 3 1/2 hour train ride to Paris. It could used as a great base to discover other countries in Europe. It has easy high-speed rail and airport access (Bordeaux, Angouleme, Paris airport).

If a house exchange could interest you, please don't hesitate to contact us for more details and photos of the house.
Thanks, Larry and Nadege
